Auditions

Roles are available for 8 people: 6 male, 1 female, 1 unspecified. As this is a staged reading, actor ages and descriptions do not have to match the characters.

Jacob, The Game Master (GM). Early 20s. Also plays for the NPCs. (Non-player characters)
Kevin, Player. Late 30s. Owner of Blade’s Edge Gaming, a local gaming supply store.
Brad, Player. Early 20s. Friend of Jacob and Kevin.
Trevor, Player. 15ish. Jacob’s second cousin.

Belkas, Kevin’s character. Honorable. Sword master.
Wilward, Brad’s character. Mischievous thief and cutthroat.
Janavyre (pronounced like Guinevere, but with Jan instead of Guin), Trevor’s character. Seductive elvish sorceress.

Stage Manager: Reads any important stage directions to the audience.

SETTING: A Sunday afternoon in the back room of Blade’s Edge Gaming. A single table is in the center of the room with seating for four and is covered by a grid map, paper, pencils, dice, character miniatures, and books. A small refrigerator is in a corner and filled with assorted sodas. Fantasy and Sci-Fi posters adorn the walls in no specific order. A large Blade’s Edge Gaming sign hangs above the door. When the fantasy characters are on stage they occupy the area downstage of the players.

Note:
The play continues to the end without stopping. It is only broken into scenes for organization’s sake. Also the players can move about in the back room area as needed. To get drinks from the fridge, snacks from a backpack, eat said snacks, or anything else.

Auditions will be October 16th at 7:30pm at Kechi Playhouse.

Rehearsals will be Sunday through Wednesday, October 18 to November 3, from 7:30pm to 9pm. There will be no rehearsal on Monday, October 31st. Come to Wichita Community Theatre in costume, and hand out candy.

This will be a staged reading. You will not have to memorize the script, and if cast, you will be encouraged to help improve your character’s lines in a collaborative process.

Costumes will be jeans and geeky-themed-tshirts for the four “players”, and jeans and black dress shirts for the “characters” and “stage manager”. There will be no props or set with this staged reading.

Performances will be November 2nd and November 3rd at 7:30pm. Admission will be free.
